messages for July 16-31 2001
Ah, perhaps. Thanks for the clarification Z. There is a fine line there... SO. In review, I guess everyone agrees about the weekend except for the guy that didn't like improv, Lin's lights, or shirtless women. Gives one pause to wonder what he does like...

Sick as I was, as far away as I was, I thought the show Saturday night had more energy than any I've ever heard before. Sounded like the band was just burning down the house. Take energy over flawlessness any day of the week. I saw very few problems, thought the guys keeping up the bathrooms in our area did a great job. Washed the inch of dust off my car this evening. There will always be problems - life's like that - but what really matters is how you react to them. If you're looking to find fault, it's always possible. If you're looking to have fun, that's also possible. It's up to you. "Klaatu borada nikto."

Well a great weekend was obviously had by all. Thank you so much X for Welcome Home. Now everyone knows how extremely that song is. Now they know why in the past I always screamed for it. The studio recording that Mark gave Jen years ago doesn't come close to the power you guys put in it Saturday night. It was truly awesome. I knew it was coming as soon as I heard a stray note before John said that you guys hadn't played it in 20 year. I can't say enough, but thank you.

I've gotta laugh at TightenUp@Camp...what the....is this your first time seeing Creek; first time at Camp? You should know by now that part of the beauty of the shows at camp is the diversity of the musicians that join in with Creek as well as the other bands to bring something new to the music and energy. Personally I like it when I hear something differently than how I have heard it in the past. I open my eyes to see what's up and there is something or someone(s) new going on up on the stage. Why does it need to be tightened up or perfect. Some of my favorite Dead shows were when Jerry or Bobby fucked up the words to a song or started singing at the wrong time. Anyone remember the Beatles "Blackbird" at Alpine one year? If your looking for perfection and for everything to be tight 100% of the time Creek ain't gonna do it for you. You had better stick with Elton John, Clapton, or Yanni if you need your music to be perfectly orchestrated. What makes a Creek show so mind blowing is the stuff thats not confined! BTW I only paid $43.50 for my ticket....try to unwind....

am i doing anything at the circle? at the last field behind the stage all the way to the left, these guys set up a huge 40 x 40 foot party tent with a 20 foot mast in the center. the acoustics in there from a mini-circle were amazing. me and a friend came in our dsl stage and played for 4 hours until 8am (when some terrapin folks told us to tone it down). the acoustics were so great. what jig?

I have Been goin to Creek for over sixteen years and 400 shows, and all I have to say is I had/saw no problems with Terrapin, the gate price, or any of it, with the possible exception being the bands that set up in the camping area with generators, amps, and drum sets...passing out flyers at a festival is one thing guys, but camping areas are for camping and stage areas are for, well you get the point...next year, talk to the booking folks and perhaps you can set up your band in the tent...
A big shout out to the boys in the band as well as the crew for the best CC that I have ever been to..Keep taking those chances guys...Linda E., you have the magic touch of inspired illumination!!
The song selection was phenomenal, and the few errors that occurred are to be expected. When in an improvisationally oriented band anything short of a total train wreck is generally considered a smashing success, and the mistakes that I caught did not even equate to someone spilling their drink in the club car.
jshep, it was nice to finally meet ya, thanks to Tony M. for the kindness, and farewell to Yana Sorokina, who left from Camp to go directly to Belorus (it's in Russia), Thanks Yana..it was great having you up to the studio to jam those few precious times.
Honorable mentions to Troy, Big Bri, Little Bri, Sara, Michele, Mimi, Shawn, and lastly, Daveass!!!

"Not sure" "Somebody shit next to the car!"..."where can I piss around here" "Next to the shit!" "hey wanna hit up the showers?" "Nah, I'm just gonna sit here a while." "Pass me one of those 'Eveybody Lives Downwind' stickers" ...camped near some rave dudes "Hey, your cd is skippin'!" Ahhhhhh...so what time next year? the Watchtower sounds so good when I hear it, two or three times this year I think. They come in like a rumbling train, and Mark lays down some excellent piano rhythms that just make it hum right along the track, building toward that WIND BEGAN TO HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWL climax, which unleashed the solos... fierce! I love it!

I have to admit, tinfoil guy and the others are very distracting clowns. But the crowd defintitely encourages them. I don't mind visual distraction on the side lines, but once they cross the audio line...that's it. Tin foil guy is the worst with that damn flute and crap. I rememeber Sunday, Head-dancing hippie going to the front/center stage with his freak-totem. Pissed me off. After a moment, I just looked at him and kind of waved him to the side. Strangest thing was, he looked at me and nodded his head and moved off. I was impressed by that I suppose, the fact that he didn't put up a fight and moved on when asked.

I read the post today to see all the wonderful things I was unfortunately missing by not being at the lookout, and there are alot of negative posts about the weekend. Past Camps are some I'll never forget, memories that will last me a lifetime. Can someone tell how awesome it was to hear Watchtower into Windows? The Field is my fave song to hear at Camp, and how big was the circle this year on Sunday? I agree that Techno music has it's place and no one should complain to pay $60 for a weekend of music. I paid twice as much to see bluegrass this year. Nothing is better than havin' very talented musicans get together and jam away, to me that sounds like bliss. Everyone I'm jealous of you all, lets hope the music never stops!!

ya know i gotta agree that the jam bands and jam rave, techno (crap) get seperate billings, why mix crowds that shouldn't be mixed, i guarantee that most of those kids that were there only for the drugs and the techno never even saw creek play, nor did they care to, and what weekend was it?! camp creek, creek being the key ingredient there. it was an incredible weekend, count down to next year begins as soon as the magic wears off from this one. Thank you Max Creek and thank you to all of the creek fans that always open your hearts to new comers and make them feel truly welcome. It has been a true treasure getting to know you. the magic of creek is something that can never be duplicated, so instead of complaining about it, enjoy it while it's here, because it won't always be. and $60 is a bargain, compare that to what else is out there and what do you come up with?! have a wonderful day! ;)

welcome home... i wrote that when i was 18... the jam at the end is one of the few compositions written by the whole band... high on a mountain... i get chills when i hear del do that tune... i had tears on my face when i heard BGUG do seven dafodils... quite possibly the best love song ever, IMHO... i thought every act at this year's camp was OUTSTANDING... i didn't get much sleep because i wanted to hear everybody... thank you all for being there, and helping to create a scene where we can all express ourselves and live life to the fullest...

Thanks for the input Bfree. I think you're right that it's still in the too-early-to-tell phase. Music is such a wide open form of expression that we needn't set limits on anybody's expression or presume about who likes what. Let's just "Be Free"! ;) Peace.

hi sunny.I have been exposed to dance (techno, freestyle, trance, etc.) for some time. There is a vast following, but with very limited and controlled venues to play at.I would say that there is a connection in an underground sense, but spirit-of-music-wise,it's more "alien" music than human soul. But there are exceptions.I love the remix of same things on mp3.com.I can get into a melding of the 2,in fact I have experimented with dubbing classic psychedelia with modern club rave material, and sometimes the "space" can be phenomenal! I think the verdict is not in yet as to where the fusion will occur,if and when it happens. But I can see it happen. The hard part will be the social clash of trust and distrust,of old school partyers and new experimenters. This will have casualties. That's my say.

Yeah, the lights were good, it was like seeing a Broadway show. And I don't care if people sit in. All I'm saying is, figure out the songs ahead of time, make sure everyone The lights were great, it was like Creek on Broadway. And it's great that people sit in. All I'm asking is that the players on stage knows the chords, changes and words so that the number is professional. It's nuts that Scott has to run around the stage, telling the singers the words to the next verse and yelling changes to the players. If you're charging $20 a ticket, OK. But at $60 a ticket, I sort of expect the players to at least know the words and chords before they get on stage. But what do I know. I'd like to see less production, lower prices and tighter music.

To comment on the issue of the "scene", there seems to be a split between the Creeker/Deadhead tripper types, and the Raver, "E" crowd. Just my opinion, but the techno-dance stuff that's become so popular is a far cry from the G-Dead legecy of great, and spiritually inspiring song writing. Psychedelica seems to have a much different meaning in this new scene (which I don't understand). I've checked out quite a few of the bands I've heard about through jamband.com, etc., and too often they spend a large amount of the show playing loop-driven dance modes that don't go anywhere IMHO. But there are those who obviously dig it. I guess I'm not sure why they are both playing at the same fests. Maybe the Jamband scene needs to differentiate between Jam-Rock and Jam-Rave. I don't mean any offence to those that enjoy both styles, but I'm starting to think that more people into one or the other. Yes? Thanks again all for a great weekend!

On this day, 30 years ago, Dave Reed and I formulated the idea for the band Max Creek. The concept was to
provide a place for us to do our own music, on our own terms. The idea was to also have friends and family to live
out their dreams to be poets, artists, photographers, musicians or to do whatever creative endeavor they so
desired within the structure of Max Creek. There have been casualties along the way but by some miracle the
band and the idea has survived. Sometimes the idea has been clouded by the monster, the thing that drives us, the
band... but the idea is still there.....30 years, think of that!.....So to all....Thanks for being there........oh..and have a
good night..... "but still you come a scheming you're dreaming, always leaving Stand away and let me be me today"

second the thought...those guys were wrong vibe from the get-go, not even bothering to park their bus properly but basically *in the road*. Now i'm the first to respect and appreciate all kinds of folk, and real glad we have the atmosphere to have that...that said, respect earned is respect given. leave the amps and the generators at home, and break out with the acoustics...that's more fitting in the outdoor vibe, than trying to force one on those unfortunate to be close to you.

Oh I have one thing to say..to Tin Foil Man, Pat the Head Dancin' Hippy and the rest of your clan..I find you all very disrespectful of others..first what gave you the right to set up your own band while Peev and Friends were playing..that was totally inconsiderate, you guys have some balls..Camp is not about you!! Camp is not for you to come in with a band and set up and play while the other bands were playing..obviously none of you have any class..and to top it off your band sucked donkey balls..please I really don't mind if you play your instruments but to bring in generators and have it cranked up so loud you can't even here the wind blowing in your ear..have some respect for others around you then maybe you'll be given some respect..I just don't get it
you guys are older you should know better..though with the amount of drugs we watched you take know wonder you think its all about you..I think its time for you guys to grow up!! Sorry about the negative post but I just had to get that off my chest!! I still say it was the best camp creek ever!!

This was a topic of much discussion, I found. I think that anything with so much 'high production value' is going to raise the showiness but probably inhibit the wild jams we're used to. But we're a little spoiled ;)... but I see it as a trade off, the newness of it definitely kept it different, the new material made it fresh and surprising, there was no knowing what was next... and the liiiiiiiights! I thought it was like a Broadway-style Creek revue at points, but I dug it as such because it was FRESH... but I hear ya... Sunday was the meat & pototoes, and I was dancing alot harder...

Looks like I'm in the minority but . . . Saturday night felt way too over-produced to me. Too many people sitting in. The problem with people sitting is that everyone's looking for a song that everyone sort of knows. The only numbers Sat night that GOT IT were the MaxCreek-only songs & the numbers with Jeff. The rest of the numbers were not tight at all and just a beat slow which made the Space seem eeven more disjointed. Looking forward to a Creek-only show or Creek with Jeff. Sorry.

Camp Creek was so great this year that it made Monday even more brutal than a normal Monday. In fact it was so brutal that I couldn't find the time till today to make it to a computer to check the set lists and post a message. Speaking of set lists....holy %@#%*%^&%$#$@#!!!!!!! That was some of the best stuff I have ever seen. D. Trucks on Sat. was epic and I would have to say that the Sun. openers of Book...Watchtower..Devil's Heart...Windows had to be one of the best show openings I have ever seen. I mean come on Windows as the 4th tune???? Amazing!!! I also thought that the guy on pedal steel added a totally different dimension to some of the tunes he sat in on. Bring him back next year. Oh yea, and that Pevar guy was smoking as well. You know it had to be a sick weekend musically when a mention of Pevar sitting in comes later in the list of guests. Simply excellent shows. I do have to give credit to Terrapin for the great job they did (even though there was no where to buy tickets in Rochester). Will Call was very easy to find and there were no problems, thank God. Also the entire event seemed to be run more professionally and smoothly. I could tell things were going well because Eric didn't look like he was going to freak out this year. Handing out the different colored garbage bags was a great call. It was also great to see everyone this weekend and of course there are too many to mention. Funniest happenings of the weekend (for me of course), John "Devils" Hartman doing his glow stick show late night on Sat. (Don't ask)...and the biker dude on Sun who grabbed a tamborine from Rob and then ran out on stage to try to help sing One Way Out. He didn't quite seem to know the words, and his rhythm with the tamborine was kind of off but best of all were the looks that the band was giving each other..."Who the hell is that and what is he doing?" Too much fun. Can't wait till Phil's Farm. Scott A...you rock, must have been the cymbals. Later.

I fell for everyone who had stuff stolen. There was way too much X and K going around, I couldn't walk 10 feet without someone asking me if I want some or have some. What happened to good old gonja!Alot of the writers are right about the drug/rave scene this year.Is it the younger crowd, the college crowd or just money makers. All you true Max Creek fans who I see at all the local New England shows are Cool and good partying people. HAY Terrapin I want to see Liberty Bus Next year, what do you say?

'Morning, All! I'd like to ask everyone to send some rest-in-peace vibes towards Sophie a.k.a. Tiny Pooch, who is now in a better place. I loved Sophie! She was a special little dog who was literally a "freak" in nature -- a cross between a bulldog and a chiwuawua -- but she gave so much love to my parents and I. I shed tears last night and this morning and I know Sophie is not suffering no more and it is for the best. Thank you, everyone...and good bye, Tiny Pooch: I miss you and love you always!

I believe that Max Creek is a horrible band. They have no talent and play off of what many great bands in the past have created. I went to Camp Creek 2001, and let me just say that it was the most embarrassing performance that I have ever seen. Jerry would have been mortified if he had heard Creek's rendition of China Cat. I was completely disgusted and I feel bad for all of you people that think Max Creek is a talented band. You really need to look for something more in your lives if you turn to Max Creek for your musical enjoyment. I mean...they can't even jam for god sakes! Fuck Creek! And fuck all of you that like them!

Well, where do I start, thanks to everybody and the band for such a fantastic job at putting together the masterpiece known as Camp Creek 2001, a weekend I will NEVER forget. Thanks to Jeff Pevar and friends for that intense tent party. Any tension or stress I had was totally set free under the glowing canvas. It set the tone for the whole weekend, you rokk, Jeff! Saturday's show defitely rokked, thanks, to the band for playing and playing and playing your asses off! The sound was tuned perfect by Steve, who did an awesome job, as usual, gonna miss ya man! And the lights ... and those gorgeous back-up singers ... was thinkin' X woulda looked real sharp in a matching black leather jacket ;-) But Sunday was indeed the best night, I seen alot of ol' friends as the masses filtered out of the Country Club, and to look up and see 6 friggin guitar players!!! And they all sounded awesome together, I especially like that steel guitar, fit right into the sound beautifully. X did a great job at keeping that many guitar players together and rokkin' on. It was such a perfect set, It didn't even bother me that they didn't play Summer Sun, actually glad they didn't play it 'cause we had more damm Sun then we knew what to do with. Save that sh*t for a rainy day, it'll come in handy ;-) A BIG thanks to whoever kept the mist and water droplets coming down on the crowd, very cool! And a real big thanks to Laura J., for fuggin' my buddy Justin up, thats all I hear the way home, Laura this, Laura that ... you helped make the Camp rokk! Thanks to You! Looks like a Living room show is in the future. But everyone's smile in the crowd made this an awesome show. GDTRFG said it best" one forgets until reminded...like-minded folks can generate and share in such positive energy..." well said, things like this cannot be taken for granted, they ARE the times of our lives. I'm so glad to hear that everybody had an awesome, safe, magical show ... which is all worth alot more than a couple of cheap, plastic chairs ... and I'm so glad all you like minded people agree. YOU ROKK!

I think if they had more security they would have been able to open up another field thereby giving people more space. Violence in cities is caused because people don't have enough space. When someone invades your space (parking place, barking dog, etc..) there is conflict. I remember camping in the lower field last year with plenty of room. It was nice, quiet and well worth the longer walk to the stage area. This year there was no retreat for those of us who prefer a quiet home. So, my question is...should I pay $90 - 120 to be packed in with noisy/theiving neighbors for the summit? Maybe designating a peace & quiet camping area (no loud music or drums)!! great idea huh?? Terrapin..what is your answer to this?

fyi... BGUG http://www.bluegroundundergrass.com will be at the Wetlands on Thursday night, August 2, as in THIS THURSDAY! Max Creek really dug jamming with these guys at CC and BGUG is only together for about 3 years now, and based out of Atlanta. So, if you've never been to Wetlands, this is a great opportunity to check it out and support an up and coming band, Blueground Undergrass.... peace~

Drum circles are cool, but not next to my tent. Please put circus tents w/ drums, rave tents, misc. bands in their own area. We will keep our music/laughs/blunders within our own neiborhood. We are more than willing to walk to that magic when we need to grove on that stuff until sunrise.
P.S. I'm not complaining about anything. IT WAS ALL GOOD.

As this past weekend demonstrates how popular this event has become I want to thank all them folks who worked the bathrooms! It was a large crowd afterall with the weather so good. The camping is so cool.I'd like to see more Veggie food vendors. The Bikers last year kept a eye on the campsite and as always are "perfect gents".I think everyone should realize that at CampCreek you have to exercise care, respect and common sense. Then the good times come right along.See ya' next year!

jut wanted to say that max creek and camp creek were great! I'm a new fan! They really jammed and it was great selection of songs! I really like the saturday show with members of Blueground Undergrass, what a magical jam!! The bummers were mostly in the camping area... some idiots had a band in there with speakers at full blast, and they sucked to boot! I pay $$$ to come to a festival to see music that is performing there, and, I should be able to go back to my tent and not hear BAD music blaringly loud. Campsites are for acoustic jams and drum circles, NOT bad garage bands. Also, too much thievery, my friend had a really nice chair stolen and my other friends who were vending had their tye dye flag stolen. With all of those bikers there as security, along with the TT crew, there should have been better security! Rule for next year.... NO amplifiers in the cmapground and bring back Blueground Undergrass for a good long night time set!! CYA next year!!

I agree with Gongster. I was in L3 and saw the same acts of control by the security. Some dude with a camp creek credential took a guy's stash right outta his hands and said "you got a problem with this". He said "we can do it this way or another way". It was pure shakedown. I witnessed the whole thing. Heard he was a sheriff from Duanesburg. Also the rave was bullshit, doesn't belong there. That E, K and G crap isn't a good vibe and brings more shakedowns and thievery. The shutting down of the drum circles blows big time and whoever has the tape of the Terrapin thugs who did this, please post it on the net. Let's expose them for what they are. The bathroom people L3/L4 were great and the music rocked. The food was good too. Too many people though, I woke up Sat and some dude's tent was inches away and I heard his grunting and snoring when the Techno wasnt blasting. And where were the skydivers man? Who was that dude who was on his head on top of a garbage can dressed to the nines doin a leg dance?

I thought it was a great Camp Creek. I wasn't allowed to go backstage, so I gave up any ideas of taking pictures. Then I got REAL sick (and not from drugs, either) and wound up listening to the Saturday set while curled up next to my car. Even from there, the music sounded GREAT! Usually I'm tripping, so anything sounds good, but not this year, and the music WAILED. Especially loved that "Route 66". Only stayed 'til Windows ended Sunday, I'm getting old (57 now!), and i hadda get up for work today. How about that backup waiting to pay the New York State government their toll? Tolls are ok, but making people sit and wait to pay is not cool. Probably used up more gasoline sitting in the line than the amount of the toll itself. And I'm sure not going for that "EZ Pass" system - I don't need the government tracking my movements. Let's change governments. Peace. Oh yeah, http://scoogy.tripod.com/maxcreek/

Did anyone see X with some goofy glasses during the Saturday set?? Me and she were up on the hill at that point soaking in the scene. Before the set, we thought "wouldn't it be funny if ....". Someone told us it actually happened! If it is true, I'd love to get a picture of it. See.. It was her first Camp Creek, and she is still gleaming about it. The glasses were hers (not that it matters) but a picture of it would make a wonderful suprise. WHAT A GREAT TIME! YOU ALL FEEL LIKE FAMILY AND I CAN'T WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN. WHAT A SHOW!

Well, my folks had the family dog, Sophie a.k.a. Tiny Pooch, put to sleep over the weekend.:-( She was suffering from various things, including a tumor, and she was suffering badly to the point there was no choice. This little pooch was wonderful -- she was most unique in that she was a cross between a bulldog and a chiwuawua -- and many times I would visit and wind up playing with the pooch. Mom & Dad gave her love...as did I. RIP, Sophie...I love you and will miss you always!!!!!

One of my best friends didn't make it to camp because she died last week. Her rusted frame deemed her unsafe for the road and with 202,000 miles I guess it was her time. If only I had garaged her...sigh...sniff-sniff. I thought for sure that the rebuild transmission ($2,000) and major tune-up ($850) were enough to keep her going. Oh god---how I will miss my 1987 Toyota 4x4 Cargo van. She brought me to many shows, always willing to carry all of my camping gear and providing me a safe place to sleep at night. Rust in peace my beloved :(

I ment the most recent woodstock rioting and tearing the place down. And i think its true a lot of these kids dont have a scene like this to be part of. And everyones welcome at these kinds of events. But it only takes one small rule to follow RESPECT.Repect other people and there stuff.Respect the bands and the awesome music they play.Respect yourself and mostly respect the land.If these kids that want to take x or k or whateverr and rave all night long there wouldnt be any problem if they had respect.
and again thanxs most all of you, the bands, and Indian Lookout for an over all fabulous weekend

not one complaint. one of the best weekends of the year. the food was even great when i ran out of our large supply. more innovations in the campsites, stages, dj machines. we had near us a winnebago turned stage with amps and monitors and instruments, and gongster and fam brought 4 drums sets, a stage, cans (stage lights) mics, and mas percussion as i did as well. the stage lighting was amazing, it transcended the stage into the trees, linda must have had a good time. the sound was the best sound system i've ever heard, especially at camp. it's come a long way. the stage had a roof, guess they don't want another downpour.

hey gongster... here's a reply from someone who works at terrapin about the drum circle shituation: "Terrapin loves Drum Circles!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a full time Terrapin employee who worked Camp Creek all weekend, including overnight shifts Friday and Saturday at camping HQ, it comes as a shock to me to hear that Terrapin employees were breaking up drum circles. The camping team never broke up a drum circle all weekend, and I don't know any other Terrapin employees who would be in a position to do this.
Friday night, at 4 a.m., we asked a large drum circle near camping hq to keep the volume down a little, which they happily did. That's about the only contact we had with a drum circle all weekend.
What did the employees who broke up this drum circle look like? What were they wearing? We would love to hear a copy of your audio tape. Please mail us a copy. The actions you describe are very disturbing to me, and run counter to everything Terrapin stands for. Help us out, so we can get to the bottom of this, and make sure things like this don't happen again." his email address is: johno@terrapinpresents.net peace..

Great weekend all the way around. the music was bliss as always and after seeing sundays list i wish we coulda stayed but had to get back. We have been going for a long time. one time our friends dog drove the bus down the hill when camping was still where the vending was this weekend. I would complain about the techno because it was a wee annoying but it may just be envy for the young folks still having the energy to fill all the promises their minds make.
My hero of the weekend was the flush toilet lady - such dedication to a truly horrifying job. Loved the hoe down and the walrus will always crack me up as i picture my best friend pounding out the WOOO! also LOVED wish i could remember to forget about yooouuuuuuuuuu. Good times with old friends are the best kinds of times. see you all in the funny papers until we meet again

When the winter is long and cold, and the Creek shows too far in between, I dream. Of sitting on the hill, with the cooling mist at twilight. With the beautiful people, as the skip and twirl in their colorful clothes, to the magnificent music and the magical lights reflecting the joy in their eyes. What a precious, precious gift to do it again! A thousand Thank you's to Max Creek and Frank and his beautiful family, and everyone who made it such a safe, peaceful and beautiful place to be. I very much enjoyed meeting Howie and Heidi, John and Mike, camping next to Roxanne and her friends, and seeing all the wonder in everyones eyes. I was very much impressed with the Staff and fellow freaks who broke up the fight down in front, and again as they helped the young man who needed emergency help. To all the musicians on the stage and in the camp sites, you magical, energy giving, soul shining friends, you rock my world!

Camp Creek was awesome! I helped the clean-up crew and partied with everyone and anyone. The crew I went with a real Creek fans and came for them, but all the bands there gave the same vibe. Sunday I had to cut out early @ 1:00 to pick up my son 4 hours away at home, who hadn't seen his mom since thursday, but I wish I couldve stayed. I loved the scene there, it feels good to be FREE!!Everyone I met had something to give or say, I would live there if I could. Some people who camped around me had some of their stuff taken(sacks, chairs, grills, etc.) I personaly didnt lock anything up and I guess I was lucky. I personnaly gave out food and helped anyone who was in need of a buzz, if they needed something I wish they would of asked me because I would of been more than happy to share anything I had. Some first timers I talked to on Sunday said they would NOT come back because they had expensive or personel stuff taken. I just want to say "THEIVES SUCK".and they ruined it for some. I myself had a great time and I'm sad to see Steve is leaving and I hope the replacement is just as Good.

"What food is to the body, beauty is to the soul. Beauty is not defined as pleasentness of form but rather as the quality in things that invites absorption and contemplation. Some pieces of art, for example, are not pleasing to look at, and yet their content and form are arresting and lure the heart into profound imagination."

Camp Creek 2001 was great! The company (met many very cool people & so many old friends), the weather, the sound system and lights, the ease of camping, the affordability, and ofcouse, the great music, made it a very special occasion. You CreekTerripanIdianLookout people know how to put on a camp-freaking-weekend! Oh, and we invented the "V" game, which just may be more fun than chess! ;-)

wow. everyone posting today has something relevant to say:)I
think all of us are on the same level after such an incredible weekend. Camp Creek is BEAUTIFUL! It can change
your whole perspective on life. The dancing, the music, the kindness, the chaos, the colors, the scenery, the vibes, the laughter, it all flows together and creates something so magical it can't be described with words.... it can only be experienced! Thank you MAX CREEK for all the experiences, but especially CAMP, oh and that Walrus too! That was GRATE

hello all, what a wonderful weekend!!! Sorry to hear about the lack of drums, i noticed there were not many circles going on when Maggie & I came off the hill from dr. didg's set (holy cow, who would have thought ''d ever get to see hime 2x in 1 week????)... Sufi, Roxy, greg, Miss Meliss, Pete, Phil, Lovetree, umm... and everyone else I met and can't remember your name, it was great to see you and talk with you!! It as good to see a BUNCH of familiar faces as well... gdtrfb, smiles, jshep, jahwood, lee, Taper Jones, Fryinbri and sue, it was nice to see you all... I caught a lil of every act to play on Saturday, I really enjoyed the Dirty dozen Brass Band and actually cought a song by them on the radio today when I drove Niko the Wonder Dog the park to run around today... I agree with Magie, the Techo Hell in front of our tent sucked... and I LIKE {certain kinds of} techno!! but I choose not to focus on it, I clapped on my headphones and let Jerry jam me to sleep... Hope everyone made it home safe and sound... peace to all!! sunshine and smiles,

You've never danced to a record Steve? I'm not wild about techno either but if people get off dancing to it, its still dancing and still getting off. (But at 4 AM, anything can be noise pollution.) Then again I think any music has a time & place where it "works"

Hey Josh i completely agree with you. So many kids come to get f@cked up and it sucks! It just creates an unsettling vibe and puts a damper on the whole experience. But you know, there's still so much love in the scene.... so many kind people.... shit.... I love you all
Max Creek and family are roses under the thorns:)

imo techno is not usually made by live musicians, so the energy to make and then the energy received/returned to the band, is not there. probably little effort to gyrate to that monotony...certainly felt like it, we were walking around after the show, came across some techo, and our only thought was "how horrid, lifeless music"

thingfish, it only shows what you consider important...we know that the *music* is the most important thing. sorry i didn't run into you, but hung out with sally (and she came to our campsite sat nite to hang with us :) sad to say some kids have no idea what they're looking for...there's almost no good "scene" for them to get into these days...oh well...all you can do is dance!

the only bummer about that rave was that it was going on during the creek set. i had to run back to my site to get my wife's sweat pants and it was going on with tons of kids down there. i guess some kids wanted to pay 40 bux to listen to a techno dance cd and take ectasy. oh well!

camp creek was absolutly great our whole group had a wonderful time for the most part and the music is always great. But i think its pretty messed up about the drummers they wouldnt let play we were in L4 right next to the allnight rave and they let that go on i dont mind the drumms but m&m to four in the morning. Come on! whats the deal. Some of these kids coming to these things are the ones that have been ruining the whole scene since the dead stopped touring. Phish stopped touring because of it, they ruined woodstock and there not there for the music our the vibes. I love new people come to join in the experience and part of the whole thing is to be free. But free while respecting each other and the people at that rave did nothing but disrespect everybody around our campsite.Come on people where's the love gone.Peace and see everyone next year.

Ben, I think that I met him Sat. afternoon. He said that he played bass and wanted to come back later to jam with us (since we had a PA for him to plug into) but he never came back.

the sunday of camp creek is always my favorite... the ones that are their still are all the ones that really love the music (minus a few that really do have to leave).. the feeling when you pull out of the ranch and onto the road is bittersweet.. the windows are down, it is just about dusk.. you have about 6 hours of sleep under you belt from the whole weekend.. you have some good tunes on the radio and you are just getting the chills thinking about what just happened the past 60 hours.. and already looking forward to next year.. and then "tiny dancer" comes on the radio and you realize that you are literrally on top of the world. i'll tell you ever since "almost famous" i get chills ever time i hear that song. I know i am not the only one and i can just imagine how you all felt as you left behind one of the best weekends of your life, only with the memories.. it is refreshing to know that you have something that you can count on being at every summer as long as creek is still rocking!!! and also refreshing to know that you have friends that may not see but once a year, but when you get together at camp creek, you realize that some things never change. Thanks again!

just a thought...the things/experiences which happen to us, are lessons meant for us, otherwise, why would we be there to experience them? it's too bad in this sphere, that we tend to learn more from the bad lessons than the good ones, but that's what they are...lessons from the universe...try not to engage the ego, and learn what you can from them...at the end sunday one of my friends had a fairly negative experience, which was a bummer, BUT there were multiple lessons in it, and it turned out pretty well, as well as it could...and this is the thing...afterwards we met at the top of the entrance/hill to compose ourselves, and a most gorgeous sunset unfolded before our eyes, a glorious red sun sinking below the horizon, painting the clouds in red-tone highlights...if that negative thing had not happened, we would not have been in that spot to bear witness to such beautiful, positive energy...so, even in negative situations, there are gifts, just keep eyes
