Hey smilesalot. After the past weekend I can put a few more names with faces. I had quite an experience at the lost Horizon. I approached some strangers in the parking lot and entered the Twilight Zone. As I approached them with a gift in hand this stranger leaps inside a condom-filled dumpster, mumbles some creepy noises, and jumps out only to stumble into another stranger who was holding my gift. Needless to say the gift is now scattered throughout the parking lot. It was an experience I'll never forget. I shouldn't say never because I am visiting the living room for the first time in a couple of weeks. That experience might very well bypass the latter.

still don't get it... what if your pet is a pig? people have pet pigs. i'm not knocking eating meat, ya know, let's change the cat idea to rats. not lotsa people have pet rats nor do they think of rats as family... but they cringe at the thought of eating one... why? it's meat, isn't it? scrawny, yes, but you can eat it!

I dunno - I've sorta got used to having a president. Being an idealist, though, I think the person who becomes president should care more about his country than his own personal ambitions. These two jerks fail that test miserably! I fear for any country run by either of them.

The other difference is that people feel better if they're killing and eating something that's not very intelligent/lower on the food chain. Steer, chickens, turkeys, pigs, fish: most are considered not too bright (I can see arguments coming down the pike on that one). Deer? Oh so cute, but come on, there are rocks with more wits. So, what about chronically stupid people you might ask...?

johanna--the difference between eating cats and dogs or other animals is that people are used to eating other animals and having cats and dogs as members of their families...no one wants to eat uncle joe for dinner any more than they want to eat snowball or rover

Jwood, You sure it was dog? I know many Cambodians and have eaten at many Cambodian restaurants. Out of all the Asian cuisine's Cambodian is probably the most delicate and refined. Gotta love living in a New England Town with ton's of Asians, Norman Rockwell meet's The Killing Fields. Now if you said Korean food I might go along with you on that.

jwood, Peakin at the Beacon is a weird disc, bu tthe shows that got Betts booted was the Jazzfest and the other southern festivals (Beale St, etc) that they played and Dickie had a little too much to drink. I have heard the tapes and they are awful. Dickie was in bad shape, blowing guitar lines and lyrics. The Beacon run was very good IMO. They could have picked a better selection of tunes for the disc, but they wanted tunes that were not on any of the Evening With series. DP 19 is great tho!

Domestic CDs of the Day: DixPix XIX and The Allmans' Peakin At The Beacon. The latter I find a bit bizarre, given that Beacon run prompted the removal of Betts. Not
a bad disc based on one listen, but it's odd that 8 of the 10 tunes are Gregg's, one Dickey (a neat Seven Turns) and High Falls (the main reason I bought the disc). Oh yea...to answer sk the slip kid's question...I'm a lifelong music freak...what can I say?!:-)

Where I grew up there was this Chinese restaurant that had the best chicken in the world. They eventually got bust with over fifty skinned and frozen cats in there freezer. Apparently they were putting out food for the cats that were over in the apartments next door, and then catching them. Too bad, they had good "chicken". I personally beleive that cats should be raised as live stock. But no, just because their cute and cuddly Americans have a problem with eating them. Us Americans only like to eat the ugly animals.

A nice young worker from the post office was sorting through the regular
envelopes when she discovered a letter addressed as follows:
GOD
c/o Heaven
Upon opening the envelope, the letter enclosed told about a little old
lady who had never asked for anything in her life. She was desperately
in need of $100 and was wondering if God could send her the money.
The young lady was deeply touched, and she passed the hat among her
workmates. She managed to collect $90, and she sent it off to the old
lady.
A few weeks later, another letter arrived addressed in the same way to
God, so the young lady opened it. The letter read, "Thank you for the
money, God, I deeply appreciate it. However, I received only $90. It
must have been those bastards at the post office."

geez jwood, how many shows do you go to? on top of that there's always the CD of the Day, are you independently wealthy? yes, mike from sd does indeed have cali kind and if anyone talks to sees fryinbri, tell him that mike is looking for a ride to the room next saturday, i guess today is considered a bad weather day here in sd, about 65 and some clouds, ha ha, gotta love that, classes have gone smoothly everything is just jake out here (love that expression), considering squirel nut zippers with the dirty dozen brass band tonite, but i hear they'll be up in sf later in the week so i may go catch alto sax great charles mcpherson play for free at ad city college theater, take care all, I LIKE & ENJOY YOU ALL!!!

Bela always puts on a first class show. his new album is a bit too mainstream compared to his other stuff, but that happens when you sign to a major label. he still kicks live tho. Flight of the Cosmic Hippooooooooo!

gongster, I wish I could agree with you on the Webster. I never had any problems with police at the Expo (as for alcohol I don't drink these days, so YMWV there). The vibe at the Expo was FAR cooler than ANY time I've stepped inside the Webster now known to me as the DumpSter! At the DumpSter, there's been overzealous security: Not to mention shitty acoustics and a shittier neighborhood.

Don't you just love it when you're walking and the person who's about two to three feet BEHIND you (where you are not going to look unless you're walking backwards) expects you to inherently KNOW that they can not get the door and then becomes rude to you after you've walked through the door and let it close. Nobody stands there holding the door open for five minutes after they've walked through it, unless of course they have eyes in the back of their head and know that someone is behind them. You would think that the person, seeing you in front of them would ask you for help, but no, they'd rather become irate....but is it because you didn't help them or because they were too idiotic to ask for help?

I'm glad new years is at the Webster. I'd rather be cramped up at the Webster than shit on at the Expo. Besides, at least the Webster has a real bar, and none of that ticket bullshit. Hey smilesalot.....After reading your post yesterday I don't feel so bad about stepping on your foot by accident on Friday night. When it happened your reaction made me feel like I had really hurt you and thus the outpourings of "I'm sooo sorry." But now I realize that it was more of a freaked out reaction rather than a pain one...or maybe a combination of both. Just curious but did I have any skin at that point? Either way I still felt bad but I feel a little better knowing where you were at then....mentally. I'm still sorry though and I hope your foot and eyesight are ok. But how about that show on Fri??? I've been going over the tape in my brain and am still amazed. Even though X played the JAR, which was insane, I still think one of the best songs of the night was the Eminence Front. John's bass was filling the room like I have never heard and X's leads were just bitting and snarling and ripping. The grind your teeth kind of leads. Totally awesome. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Easily in my top ten. Can't wait to see them again. Later.

just flashed back here and saw mr jones' pick, i loved both those acoustic shows so much, got really really "enhanced" this show and when i drove out towards simsbury mtn to take the left at the chart house i was so paranoid i'd be pulled over in that 2 - 3 mile strip, i felt that i was driving so perfectly that a cop would see and pull me over b/c i was driving so well that i had to be covering something up!!!

jwood, i can post how i liked it but you know how i don't like to advertise my opinions....ha ha, anyway, just got off the phone w/mike who gave me directions to the gaslight district where i'm headed for dinner, we're at a welcoming reception now for this forum, pretty relaxed, booze, appetizers, sushi, but now as i look back my date is talking to some other guy so i best finish up quick here, ya know, with my blow up dolls i never have to worry about them cheating on me, lol! anyway, life may be sweeter for this i don't know, see how it feels in the end, weird though, monday night football starts in a few minutes, at 6:00, gotta go........

Hello. Happy (belated) Birthdays to Mark and Mark and Becky and Brian!!! YAY! Hey sk, caught a great Radiators show on Sat. night down in Falls Church, VA at the State Theatre. Creek should play there!!! They tore it up, but I was most impressed this time by the sounds of Camile Baudoin, one of their stylie guitarists. Good ol' New Orleans ROCK & ROLL. Got a kickin' Wanna Be Your Driver and Let's Radiate, and some others I didn't know. Thanks JPB for the boiling pots of Jambalaya. mmm mmmm mmmmm!!! Did it up right. Great meeting some new and crazy cats too. Layla, Steve, Dottie, and Jesse... to name a few. Glad to see everyone had a great weekend up North with the boys. Looked like 2 fantastic shows. Ohhh, I can't wait to see YOU all real soon. wink wink... nudge nudge. ~:)b bye.

OK, everything that I have on mp3 is now back up, and I have re-done my mp3 page to reflect that. Thanks again to Tony H, who made all this possible. Anyone who has the still-missing shows (or tracks) on cd or mp3, let me know if you can lend them to me, to get the rest back up. I couldn't get the "GO" links on the mp3 page to work, but I'm pretty sure they're right, let me know if they aren't. Now to make cd copies of Tony's disks before I return them. Peace. http://scoogy.tripod.com/maxcreek/

Hey now! Looks like last night was a blast! Seeing Creek outside of New England again would be nice! I too saw Ratdog on the Today show yesterday! It would have been nice to see a Dead song played, but the new material needs to be played as well! I probably won't be seeing Bobby this time around, only because I saw Furthur and four Phil shows and one can only see so many shows! That's what Jerry should have written was "So Many Shows" instead of "So Many Roads"! Okay, just tell me to shut up! Go Pats!?!?!?!? PEACE!

I have the entire 7/31/74 - Htfd show as SBDMR~D~CD~D~CD. The P&N set is from an AUD and the WRS (just the WRSP per my notes & I can't recall if it's truly the entire suite, but I suspect so & that I have a documentation pblm) is from another SBD source for which there is no known provenance.

A sweet Uncle Bob show in Lowell last night. Highlights for me: a biting It's Alright Ma -- even the President of the United States must have to get up and stand NAAAAAAAAKED -- a stunning Hattie Carroll, a cool boogie-blues revamp of God Knows, a smokin' Drifter's Escape and a fabulous Don't Think Twice complete with Uncle Bob driving the harp. However, those old warhorses like Watchtower, Highway 61...everything just ruled! Great to see Rich & Roxy -- enjoy the CDs, you two!:-) Four final words: THANK YOU, UNCLE BOB!:-)

just back from my golf league banquet, took a lot of hardware home with me, 2 trophy's, 2 plaque's, etc. etc. and the neighbor girl won the raffle for women only and took home some bed & bath good smelling stuff and some candles, so when she's walking up to get it one of the guys in the leaguue yells out, mrs. rice krispie treat, do they know me well or what, glad to hear you got your JAR greg, as for x ripping the flesh off the people in front, ell he's been sued countless times for that, tonite w/sideshow bob in harshford town you may get a little of his spit on you, but at least your flesh will be okay, sf, 7-31-74 dillon stadium story....okay, it's sk's 14th b'day and his friends are going, but the grateful dead sound like some satan worshipinng outfit and mr & mrs sk's parental units forbade him to go, so his first show is 2 years and 2 days later, 8-2-76 colt park, so do i win the disks? well california's got the most of them, boy they got a host of them and tomorrow they'll have me, take care folks and BUZZ, keep the order in here in my absence
